Requests of up to $50,000 will be considered. Approximately $50,000 of the total funding available will be for smaller sustainability grants of $5,000 or less. The amount set-aside is subject to change based on the number and type of applicants received, and total funds available at the time of the award. The two award opportunities are as follows:
RESILIENCY AND EQUITY GRANTS (up to $50,000 per award)
Grants of up to $50,000 will be awarded to Manchester based non-profit organizations for one or more of the following:
a) Facilities, equipment, or supplies.
b) The provision of community based educational or instructional programming.
c) The provision of cultural celebrations and community events.
In awarding grants pursuant to this section, the Town shall consider community resiliency and equity.
For the purposes of this grant, resiliency is defined as improving the community’s ability to absorb disturbances or shocks (environmental, public health-related, or social) while maintaining its primary functions, structures and/or characteristics. The term equity means the consistent and systematic fair, just, and impartial treatment of all individuals, including individuals who belong to under-served communities that have been denied such treatment, such as Black, Latino, and Indigenous and Native American persons, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and other persons of color; members of religious minorities; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) persons; persons with disabilities; persons who live in rural areas; and persons otherwise adversely affected by persistent poverty or inequality.
SUSTAINABILITY GRANTS (up to $5,000 per award)
Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to assist non-profit organizations located in Manchester with one or both of the following:
a) Sustainability related improvements to utility systems, infrastructure, or landscaping.
b) Instructional or educational programming that is focused on sustainability and provided to Manchester residents.
Projects will promote or contribute to sustainability that is aligned with the Town of Manchester’s vision for sustainability.
