The Manchester Water and Sewer Department (MWSD) is issuing a water supply alert to all citizens, businesses, institutions, and residents of Glastonbury in the Manchester water service area.

The water system’s capacity has dropped below 80% due to unusually low rainfall and regular water usage. We expect future precipitation events will allow the reservoirs to recharge and bring water supply levels back to normal capacity. In addition, Governor Lamont has declared a Stage 2 drought advisory for all eight counties in Connecticut due to far below normal precipitation levels and ongoing fire danger levels statewide.

In this stage of alert, we ask all consumers to be mindful of any unnecessary water usage in order to protect our water supplies for essential drinking and fire-fighting purposes.

MWSD will continue to monitor reservoir levels and will notify consumers once the capacity returns to normal. In the event that dry weather conditions persist, the MWSD may need to implement additional measures in accordance with the Water Department’s Drought Response Plan.
