Honoring our heroes at the heart of our community. The Manchester Veterans Banner Program celebrates the brave men and women who have selflessly served our country.
Mihika Joshi (15 years old) started this program four years ago in South Windsor. Last year (2022) Mihika presented the program to the Veterans Advisory Committee. The program aims to showcase 30 veterans along with sponsors throughout Manchester's Main Street. The Veterans Advisory Committee recruits sponsors and veterans to be recognized with designed banners. Once the 30 veterans are selected, along with sponsors, the information is sent off to a veteran owned print shop that prints the banners. Each banner displays the name, photograph and service years of the veteran.
The banners are displayed Memorial Day through Veterans Day each year and then the sponsoring organization has the ability to display the banner before it becomes the permanent property of the honored veteran or their family.
