Severe Fire Danger Risk 10/26

The National Weather Service has placed the entire State of Connecticut under a red flag warning for severe fire danger risk.
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY , ALL OPEN (OUTDOOR) BURNING (INCLUDING NORMALLY PERMISSABLE FIRE) IS PROHIBITED IN THE TOWN OF MANCHESTER UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
A VIOLATION OF THIS ORDER MAY RESULT IN FINES AND/OR ARREST IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONNECTICUT GENERAL STATUTE § 23-48 “KINDLING FIRE IN THE OPEN”
In accordance with the Manchester opening burning policy, “Unauthorized open burning is kindled during a high or extreme forest fire alert period.”
During this period of severe fire danger, we are asking all Manchester Residents to do your part in keeping our community safe.
Oct. 26 Update: The outdoor burning ban for Manchester will remain in effect, as the long range forecast is for warm and dry conditions.

RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM THIS MORNING TO 7 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR CONNECTICUT.
- AFFECTED AREA - In Connecticut, Hartford, Tolland and Windham.
- TIMING - From 8 AM this morning to 7 PM EDT this evening.
- WINDS - South 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
- RELATIVE HUMIDITY - As low as 40 percent.
- TEMPERATURES - Up to 77.
- LIGHTNING - none.
- IMPACTS - Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. Any fires that start may spread rapidly and become difficult to extinguish.
