Runners clad in turkey suits and pilgrim costumes will join some of the world’s best athletes in a field expected to exceed 11,000 competitors at the 88th Manchester Road Race on Thanksgiving Day.
Defending champion and Olympian Weini Kelati of Flagstaff, Arizona has entered the race, along with former champions Ben Flanagan (2021) and Sam Chelanga (2013), Kenyan Olympian Edwin Kurgat, Andrew Colley, the fourth place finisher here in 2022, and Patrick Dever, an Olympic runner from Great Britain who was fifth at the 2023 MRR.
Race officials are reminding runners that registration will close at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, and that no entries will be accepted thereafter.
Race officials will distribute bibs Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 3-7 p.m. at the Cone Gymnasium of Bennet Academy, 1151 Main Street, in Manchester. This will be the final opportunity for persons who have elected to pick up their bibs in person to do so.
ALSO: Parking restrictions, street closures, traffic disruptions and areas of central Manchester that will be inaccessible to public travel on Thanksgiving morning when the iconic holiday run is held, have been announced.
The Manchester Road Race Committee is reminding all of its runners, spectators and friends that they can help to save many lives on the day after the world-famous Thanksgiving Day run is held. The 38th annual “Ray Crothers Blood Drive” is on Friday, November 29, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Manchester High School, 134 East Middle Turnpike in Manchester.
