Textile Recycling

Transfer Station - Self Drop Program
The Town of Manchester, in partnership with Bay State Textiles and the Central Connecticut Solid Waste Authority, is pleased to announce the establishment of a textile recycling program. The collection container is located at the Town's Transfer Station, 311 Olcott Street, Manchester, CT 06040. The container is available to Manchester residents during normal Transfer Station hours, which are Monday to Saturday, 7:15 am to 3:00 pm. 50% of collected materials are reused in some capacity, with another 45% being recycled into fiber or rags. All materials should be placed in plastic bags for placement into the collection trailer.

List of Textile Items eligible for collection:

  • Clothing: Tops, Sweaters, Sweatshirts, Dresses, Tank, Tops, Blazers, Pants, Jeans, Sweatpants, Skirts, Shorts, Slacks, Undergarments, Socks, T-Shirts, Slips, Pajama's, Coats, Bathrobes
  • Footwear: Shoes, Heels, Pumps, Sandals, Boots, Work Boots, Dress Boots, Winter Boots, Sneakers, Cleats, Slippers, Flip Flops
  • Accessories: Hats, Pocketbooks, Belts, Gloves, Duffle Bags, Ties, Scarfs, Totes
  • Linens: Sheets, Blankets, Draperies, Aprons, Dish Towels, Table linens, Comforters, Throw Rugs, Placemats, Bed Pillows, Throw Pillows (Furniture Cushions are not considered Pillows)
  • Stuffed Animals:

All of the following can be donated in any condition as long as it's clean and dry and placed into plastic bags. Thank you.
