For many the romance of Christmas is linked to a distant land, rituals of the past, and a number of very evocative songs. A 19th Century Christmastide is a selection of well-known songs which were popular at the end of the 1800s. Along with live renditions of these iconic pieces, this program includes commentary on the background and origins of the songs, and the evolution of America’s 19th century Christmas traditions. Rick Spencer and Dawn Indermuehle of Catfeather Art & Music carefully craft their vocals and accompaniment to sound as true to a song’s era or style as possible. They use these songs to illustrate the evolution of our nation’s culture and history in an informative and entertaining way, performing songs that give cultural insight into interesting times, places, and events in American history. No registration required for this free live music event.
