Senior Volunteer Tax Credit Program

Income limits to be updated by Nov/Dec 2024

The Senior Volunteer Tax Credit Program allows seniors the opportunity to volunteer their experience and services to participating agencies that consist of various non-profit Manchester agencies and Town departments, such as; Manchester Area Conference of Churches (MACC) and the Manchester Historical Society. The program runs from November to May.

By participating, qualified seniors are able to receive up to $500 tax credit off of their property tax. The program allows up to 30 volunteers. Some of the qualifications are as follows:

Do you have an annual income of not more than $43,800 unmarried or $53,400 as a married couple for the previous calendar year that you are applying for? 

Will you be 65 years of age or older by December 31st proceeding the filing period?

Do you own real property (home) in Manchester?

Do you occupy the property as your principal residence?

Are you able to work a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer service in Manchester between the time we qualify you for this program and May 15th, 2024?

If you answered yes to these questions, you may qualify for the Senior Volunteer Tax Credit Program OR if you were approved for the Town of Manchester’s Senior Property Tax Relief Program, through the Assessor's Office, you automatically qualify for the Senior Volunteer Tax Credit Program and you will need to provide documentation from the Manchester Office of Assessment and Collection.
