Support Our Soldiers-CT

     Support Our Soldiers-Connecticut will be holding an Easter/Spring collection event to support our overseas Troops on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Note new time) at the   Hillstown Grange Hall, 617 Hills Street, East Hartford, CT. 

     Donations of snacks, sweets (especially “Peeps”), drawings and greetings cards are needed and may be dropped off that day by 11:30 or by special arrangement.  

        We have a special request from Camp Lemonier, Djibouti. “Your items are greatly appreciated. Please consider us for future care packages, which we also send down range. Items that are always needed and appreciated in our warm climate theaters include:

Bug spray (malaria is a real threat to our service people **DO NOT SEND AEROSOLS)/ Sunscreen (25 SPF or greater **DO NOT SEND AEROSOLS)/ Foot powder/ Single serving snack items (cookie packets, peanuts/nuts, fruit snacks, crackers, jerky, Slim Jims, candy that doesn't melt, things that do not need to be heated up to eat, instant coffee, Gold Fish, etc./ Electrolyte drink packets (Gatorade, Powerade, etc.)/ Feminine hygiene products/ Baby wipes, or the equivalent (Dude Wipes, etc.)/ Dental Hygiene products (single packaged toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash)/ Deodorant + antiperspirant (**DO NOT SEND AEROSOLS)/Laundry Detergent/ Bug spray.”

   This is a great event to support our Troops stationed away from home for the Holidays and organizations that are interested in helping, please contact us.
        It costs about $900 to ship the packages, and we need donations to help defray postage costs. Checks should be made out to ‘SOS Connecticut’ and mailed to: SOS Connecticut, c/o Frank Forrest, 165 Maple Street, East Hartford, CT 06118.
