23 Walks: Land Conservation Trust CT Trails Day walk

The Trust will host a CT Trails Day walk on Sunday, June 4, at 1:00 p.m. at Salter’s Pond, 123 Lydall Street. This moderately placed one-mile loop walk is great for families as well as singles. The terrain is somewhat bumpy and sometimes wet, with a set of stairs and some small hills. The pond was formerly a mill pond for Salter and Strong paper mill. It was a Town swimming area from 1946 to 1961 when the current paved pool was built. The Trust acquired the 13-acre property in the 1980 and 1981 from Lydall, Inc. and Green Manor Corporation. Rain or shine, but extreme weather cancels.

Additional walks, celebrating Manchester’s bicentennial are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on • Saturday, May 20, at 146 Hartford Road, • Sunday, May 28, at 41 Center Street, and • Saturday, June 3, at  39 Lodge Drive.
