Cheney railroad walks
• Saturday, July 27, starting at the front steps of Fuss & O’Neill, 146 Hartford Road, and
• Sunday, August 18, starting at the southeast corner of the shopping center at 220 North Main Street – both at 1:00 p.m. Moderately paced approximately three mile round trip walks include historic commentary about the railroad, built in 1869 to connect the Cheney silk mills to the main rail line in the North End. Rain or shine; extreme weather cancels.
• Saturday, September 14 at 1:00 p.m., meet at 395 Porter Street, for a ramble in the Highland Park School area, a unique neighborhood with historic and modern houses, a Nature Center, and the home of Hart Porter (1812-1891). Led by the Town Historian.
